High-Protein Meals on Ozempic®: A Dietitian's Easy 120 g Day
By Jorrie Smith, RD · Updated 2026-10-31 ·
On Ozempic® (semaglutide), many people simply aren't hungry. That's the point of the medication, but it makes protein easy to miss. Here's a full day that gets about 120 g of protein in four small meals.
A sample 120 g protein day (estimates)
| Meal | Food | Protein |
|---|---|---|
| Breakfast | 1 cup plain 0% Greek yogurt, ½ scoop whey isolate, 1 cup berries, 1 tbsp chia | 38 g |
| Lunch | 1 can tuna, ½ avocado, 1 slice whole-grain toast, greens | 33 g |
| Snack | String cheese + a pear | 8 g |
| Dinner | 4 oz chicken breast, 1 cup broccoli, ½ cup quinoa | 43 g |
| Total | About 1,480 kcal, 34 g fiber | 122 g |
Tips that make it easier
- Eat protein first. If you fill up fast, the protein's already in.
- Front-load. Aim for 30 g or more at breakfast and dinner.
- Go small. If 30 g feels like too much, split it into two 15 g mini-meals.
- Drink between meals, not with them, so you don't fill up on fluid.
Why it matters
In the STEP 1 trial, about 39% of the fat and lean mass lost was lean mass (Wilding et al., NEJM 2021). Eating enough protein and doing strength training are the two habits most linked with keeping muscle.
Want every day planned for you? The 14-day GLP-1 Plate plan does the math: 100 to 130 g protein and 25 to 35 g fiber a day (estimates).
